Summer just wouldn’t seem right if we hadn’t joined the thousands of people visiting Pershore Plum Fayre, on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August.
Every year for the past 4 years, our Stamping out Stigma Champions have joined us to chat with people at the famous festival to make talking about mental health a normal conversation.
At the wellbeing and recovery college we find having the time to talk with people about what keeps them healthy really helps to encourage them to try new and different things to look after their health.
This year we enjoyed the sunshine and left the sides of our gazebo open which enticed people in for a chat. We were delighted to see a direct impact on people enquiring about and booking themselves onto courses such as Resilience and Self Care, Poetry writing and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). We were also pleased to see old friends who dropped in to tell us that they had attended a course and how it had helped them. We were kept very busy, but still made time to take a break, look around the classic car show and enjoy a tasty gelato ice-cream.
What we noted this year, was that we had quite a few more in-depth conversations with people about health and mental health with one gent laughing as he informed us that in his view, the root cause of most health problems is “Sofa-itis!”
If you’d like to avoid a dose of “sofa-it is” why not have a look at our website to find out how to join our Experts by Experience, our Stamping Out Stigma group, or sign up for one of our many courses? https://www.hwwellbeingandrecoverycollege.org.uk/
