Empower Yourself Today: You’re stronger than  you believe, and you’ve got more resources than you think!

Feel safer. Live more confidently.  Learn useful skills for everyday life.

Recent surveys from across England reveal that overall, there is a major gender gap in perceived safety. Women of all ages feel significantly less safe than men. In 2025, women’s attitudes to personal safety in England highlight not only the challenges they face but also the chance for women and girls to make positive changes, use available support, live more freely, and reduce unnecessary fear.

We also know from the World Health Organisation that feeling safe is important for our good mental health while stigma discrimination and fear harm it. (WHO) PROWESS aims to empower women and girls with not only the knowledge and skills to live a safer life, but also the attitudes and confidence to overcome fear.

It covers topics highlighted in a number of the surveys including:

  • Staying safe whilst out and about
  • Public transport
  • Online
  • Socialising and dating
  • Staying safe in the workplace Importantly

key features of the course are:

  • assertiveness
  • how to overcome fear and negative thinking
  • how to sport the warning signs of danger
  • where to go to for more advice and support.

It has been coproduced with input from women and girls, police and teachers and is delivered in women only safe space over 6 weekly sessions

Over a series of 6 sessions you will discover how you think, feel and behave can make a difference to your personal safety and wellbeing. Each session, delivered by expert,  female only instructors, will include practical tips and information to help you to build attitudes, skills and habits to enable you feel happier and safer in everyday life.
