Event Details
The Bramblewood Project is offering 6 fully-funded Spring Woodland and Nature based Days in our canal-side woodland haven, in the heart of Worcester City.
The days run from 10.30am- 2.30pm, on Thursday April 11th, Thursday April 18th, Thursday April 25th, Thursday May 2nd, Thursday May 9th, Thursday May 16th. Please book for each date that you wish to attend – we encourage you to come for the whole block if you can, or you can book any date you wish.
Hot drinks are included and those that wish to, can join in cooking a shared plant-based meal on the fire, which is also included. You are, of course, welcome to bring your own packed lunch if you prefer.
Experiences that are available to explore include:
• simple woodland and natural crafts (e.g. weaving, making string from natural fibres, whittling)
• support to begin nature journalling or follow other creative interests you already have, e.g. photography
• campfire building and tending
• fire side cooking
• supporting the gardeners in the forest garden
• contributing to wildlife surveys
• helping to manage the woodland (e.g. clearing bramble, using tools to make posts for fences, chopping firewood)
• time and a safe, inspiring space to follow your own curiosity, or support your own needs, e.g. gazing at the autumnal canopy from a gently swinging hammock, playing with mud pies, shaping clay, studying emerging flora and leave …
Days will start and finish with a short gathering round the woodland hearth, where together we check in and identify the plan for that day, with options pulled from the list above and based on participants’ wishes and needs.
We operate in a self-directed and consent-based way so, whilst we offer plenty of support and tuition in skills where needed and requested, we also recognise the important benefits of holding the space for you to guide your own time in the woodland.
Facilities and the site: Bramblewood has a private composting loo (up 4 steps with a handrail) and handwashing facilities. It is approached along allotment paths which are sometimes narrow, with some shallow steps. The woodland floor is natural, can be uneven and is slippery when wet. We have shelters available for wet weather. The site has several sloped areas though most activities will take place on relatively level ground.
You can attend as a one off, or book for multiple sessions (perhaps helpful if you would like to get more experience at one or 2 of our offerings or develop a skill like whittling.)
On application, you will receive a Bramblewood information sheet and be asked to complete a form, so that the team can plan, and get in touch in necessary.
